Include letters and memoranda, 1823-1840, relating to the construction of government buildings in Washington, D.C., in particular, the Treasury building and the Post Office; and a plat, ca 1835, showing Pennsylvania and Sixth Streets in Washington, D.C. Also include letters, 1862-1864, pertaining to solider life, the U.S. Army, and pertaining to railroads in Virginia during the Civil War.
